This month’s bag!

Better late than never right? This is my first Ipsy bag, and I was finally able to open it after spring break! Ipsy sends you five beauty samples or full-sized items for $10 per month! If you are interested in subscribing, feel free to use my referral link. I initially thought the bag itself was smaller than I imagined, but it’s pretty with some abstract flowers to match March’s Floral Fantasy theme. Here are the contents of my bag this month:

  • NYX Cosmetics Butter Lipstick in Pops
  • Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter
  • Crown Brush Oval Concealer Brush (C224)
  • Pixi by Petra Mesmerizing Mineral Duo in Apricot Glow
  • Coolway Glow Oil Treatment

NYX Cosmetics: Butter Lipstick in Pops
NYX Cosmetics: Butter Lipstick in Pops, full size

NYX Cosmetics Butter Lipstick in Pops Retails for $6.00 Every subscriber received a full sized NYX butter lipstick this month! There were three shades (Hunk, Little Susie, or Pops), and I was lucky to receive the shade I was hoping for. The formula of this lipstick is so smooth, just like butter. It’s also decently moisturizing and more forgiving of dry lips than some other formulas. I’m not a huge fan of lip products, but I can see myself wearing and enjoying this a lot! Get 25% off NYX Butter Lipsticks with code “NYXBUTTER” through 4/30/2015 on nyxcosmetics.com!

Chella: Ivory Lace Highlighter, full size

Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter Retails for $18.00 Another full sized product! I want to try more highlighters, and this is a great multipurpose tool. I use this all over my face to contour and highlight my cheekbones and under my brows. The only downside of this product is that it’s in pencil form, and I don’t have a sharpener… yet. Get 25% off any purchase with code “ipsy2015” on chella.com!

Crown Brush: Oval Concealer Brush (C224), full size

Crown Brush Oval Concealer Brush (C224) Retails for $7.45 Another full sized product I am happy to receive! I love getting makeup brushes and tools because they can be expensive. This brush is nice and soft, and I haven’t had any issues with shedding. I usually just use my fingers to blend in my BB cream and concealer, so I have been using this with one of the eyeshadows in this month’s bag to highlight my face. Pixi by Petra: Mesmerizing Mineral Duo
Pixi by Petra: Mesmerizing Mineral Duo in Apricot Glow (exclusive for ipsy), sample size of 0.03

Pixi by Petra Mesmerizing Mineral Duo in Apricot Glow (exclusive for ipsy) Estimated retail value of $1.80 (based on full size mesmerizing mineral palettes retailing for $12.00 for 0.20 oz). I don’t typically wear eye shadow, so before receiving this, I was thinking about swapping it or giving it away. But I opened it up to swatch the colors and realized the lighter shade could be a nice highlight, so I’ll be keeping it. It’s also a fairly small sample (slightly larger than a quarter), so I could use it up eventually. Get 20% off any purchase with code “IPSYMAR15” on pixibeauty.com!

Coolway: Glow Oil Treatment
Coolway: Glow Oil Treatment, sample size of 10 mL

Coolway Glow Oil Treatment Estimated retail value of $3.00 (based on full size product retailing for $29.95 for 100 mL). After running out of my usual leave-in condition product (Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Intensely Smooth Leave-In Conditioning Cream), I decided to try hair oil (Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Moroccan Sleek Oil Treatment), and I love it! I thought it would make my hair greasy, but it’s actually made my hair smooth and soft. I’ve grown to prefer oil over cream now. Since I’m saving this sample for a trip, I haven’t tried this yet. It better be amazing for me to pay ~$30 for the full size! Use code “ipsy15” to get 35% off any purchase and a free Knotty Girl Brush on coolwayhair.com!

Swatches from top to bottom:

  • Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter, $18.00
  • Crown Brush Oval Concealer Brush (C224), $7.45

  1. Wish we could get it in the UK, I’d have loved to try what’s in this bag and the bag itself is pretty too. The lip butter is so pretty in that colour and the eyeshadow and highlighter seem like good neutral colours and it’s always good to get brushes. It seems like they came up with a good combination this time.

  2. Glad you enjoyed your first ipsy bag! It tends to be a hit or miss with the products they send, but you can always re-take the quiz in hopes of getting something better the next time around.

  3. Hey 🙂

Wonderful post! All of those products seem wonderful, but I especially love the butter lipstick. I was eyeing one myself, since I need a nude color and the one you recieved looks stunning!

Love the photos you took! 🙂

I also got the nyx lipstick in Pops and I totally love it! I went out and bought another one bc they’re so fantastic. I got Licorice- I haven’t tried it yet though.
And I got the highlighter too,but I haven’t tried it yet.
I wish I had gotten the pixi duo and/or that vintage blush or highlighter, I can’t remember what it is exactly, I just know I liked it when I saw it.

  5. Thanks for the follow and great post. I’ve been getting Ipsy for 6 months now and there is at least one product from each bag that makes it into my daily routine. I love their skincare products but haven’t been a huge fan of their eyeshadow selections. But that’s just me!

  6. It’s nice to see that you received a Crown Brush item – I’m actually posting about a Crown Brush haul later this week! My experience with them has thus far been really good, so I hope you have a similar experience 🙂

  7. Lovely blog! Highlighter in pencil form isn’t something I’ve heard of before, how does it compare to powders and creams etc?

  8. Oooh, That was a nice read. I think I was most interested in Pixi Eyeshadow since I love neutral colours on my eyelids. It makes such a difference.
I wonder if you’ve tried the hair oil properly yet? Do you think it’s worth paying $30 for? haha x

    1. At first I wasn’t excited to receive the eyeshadow, but I’ve come to really enjoy it! As for the hair oil, I think it’s okay, but not worth $30! I do need to try more hair oils before I could make a fair decision though 🙂

  10. Great review. This just answered a question on a comment I made on your previous post. I’m still on the fence about Ipsy but I definitely think I’d get a better use out of Ipsy as opposed to Birchbox.
